Some great products from the fine folks at Little Factory!  Not surprisingly, I am in love with their Number Placemats and Letter Coasters, made from laser-cut felt.  (Similar designs make an appearance in the form of their number and letter scarves.)  Be sure to check out their other tabletop designs, as well as their t-shirts and blankets!

Camping :: Jesper K. Thomsen

.

The exclusive Camping series was designed by Jesper K. Thomsen for Normann Copenhagen.  The series consists of a chair, table, stool, and daybed in molded beech wood with full-grain leather.  Crafted using traditional cabinet making methods, Camping is an excellent example of new Danish design.

Jesper K. Thomsen explains:
Archetypal, traditional camping equipment has been my inspiration.  The design has a recognition factor that brings the thoughts over to leisure and togetherness, that many think are typical of camping.  I like the thought of bringing outdoor pursuits indoors, or perhaps more correctly, freedom into the living room.  At the same time, the icon, camping furniture, has been refined in my interpretation.  Against all odds, I have been successful in making chairs and the daybed without frames beneath the seat, which is part of its unique expression.

Modern Wallpaper :: Shape and Form

.
0 Remarks

The new Shape and Form wallpaper collection from Superfresco is full of geometric goodness!  The collection consists of eight contemporary patterns in either white or black.  My personal favorite is the Concave pattern in black - a flowing ogee highlighted with flashes of gloss and metallic.  If you fancy a 3D touch, perhaps the Checker pattern will fit the bill.  Each check is printed at a different height, emphasized by glossy shadow effects.  For relatively more traditional fair, consider the Soul pattern - a classic contemporary stripe with gloss and metallic details.  Other patterns in the collection include Cubix and Estuary.

Shape and Form available from Graham & Brown: $60 / double roll

Kinetics :: Nicholas Schrunk

.

I love kinetic typography!  This video by Nicholas Schrunk is not only a great example, but it takes it a step further by exploring human motion at the same time.  Very well done, indeed.

About:
"Kinetics" was an exploration into human movement and relating it to illustrative typographical elements. To achieve the footage to show human motion at the level needed we shot with a scientific high-speed camera at 500 frames per second in HD on a green screen for the performance. The subject of break-dancing was used because of its raw beauty of illustrating human motion. Typography is used as an illustrative element in this piece supporting the kinetics of the motion. The typeface Didot was chosen because it combined a modern feel with classic serifs.

Zipper Cup :: MollaSpace

.
0 Remarks

If there's one thing MollaSpace is good for, it's weird mugs and cups.  (Remember the Teeth Mug??)  This new offering is a little less creepy.  The Zipper Cup incorporates two mundane objects (a zipper and a cup) into something unique.  According to MollaSpace "the intricate design mechanism of a zipper reflects the bonding and friendship of two people, which is why they are sold in pairs. Great for gifts to newly weds, friends, parents, anniversary etc."  I'm not sure about imbuing this object with such symbolism, but there you go.  Available in white ceramic.

Zipper Cup from MollaSpace: $40 for a set of 2 cups/coasters
