Tahir Mahmood :: Modern Mortar & Pestles

I first caught a glimpse of Tahir Mahmood's pretty pestles on Oh Joy then saw more of his colorful product design on Plastolux.  Delving deeper into this Toronto-based designer's work only solidified my growing crush love affair.  Add to the fact that I have a not-so-secret obsession with mortar and pestles and well, the rest is history... as they say.

Each mortar and pestle is made from Dalbergia Sissoo wood and takes form using ancient lathe turning techniques.  The beautiful colors are achieved through resin color applications (fancy).  Check out more of Tahir's work right here.
