MAIYA :: Big Announcement!

And by "big" I mean totally, insanely, awesomely huge. I hinted that I had some announcements in the pipeline for you and here they are:

1. Wrigley and I were featured on Dog Milk's "The Scoop" today! It's full of cute photos and secrets about Wrigley (like what his "real" name is/was). Go check it out! Also??

Are you ready?

2. I am super stoked to announce that, starting right this very minute, I am now the Managing Editor of Dog Milk! Surprise! YAY!! I'll be posting once a day about all things mod and dog, as well as tickling the Internet's fancy on Twitter and Facebook. Come say hi!

I'm also kicking off a new DIY column for Dog Milk and would love some suggestions for a sweet name! Some that I've heard so far include "DogIY", "Doggy-Do", and "Bow Wow! How?" -- if you've got a clever idea, let me know in the comments or over on the Dog Milk Facebook page!

Happy Birthday, Wrigley!

Today is Wrigley's 1st birthday!

The lucky little pooch got homemade dog treats - in not one, but two flavors: Beef and Blueberry.

Here's the basic recipe:

2 cups 100% organic whole wheat flour (or wheat germ, or spelt, or rolled oats, etc.)
2 (4oz) jars of baby food - beef, blueberry, chicken - whatever. Just make sure there are no onions in it.

Preheat oven to 350°.
Mix together to form a stiff dough. If necessary, add extra flour or water as needed. On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough to about a 1/2 inch thick. Use cookie cutters to cut into desired shape or a pizza cutter to make cubes. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper, place treats about 1/2 inch apart. Bake for 25 - 30 minutes. Allow to cool completely and store in a paper bag.

Voila! Homemade dog treats! This recipe is great because you can change it however you want. I even added parsley to the beef treats as it is suppose to help with "doggie breath". Have fun with it!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WRIGGLES!

My Modern Christmas

So, I've had some requests to see some of my modern Christmas decor (hi Sarah!) and I finally had some time to take a few photos over the weekend. Here are some of my favorite decorations and ornaments! Enjoy!

Glass Trees
and Bubble Balls from CB2

A lot of my ornaments are from CB2, Target, and Pier1.

And of course, here's Wrigley by the tree (and the infamous planter of succulents). He's a pretty cute little guy, even when he's naughty. He has definitely worked hard for his lump of coal, that's for sure!

What are some of your favorite Holiday decorations?
