How very American of you!

Feeling it was our civic duty to use our stimulus check in the most consumerist way possible, we did what every other true blooded American would do.

We bought the newest flat screen LCD in the biggest size we could.

I feel so very patriotic.

Tin Robot Man Child

When Brady and I were in Chicago, we didn't really shop that much. We spent all our money on good food and Cubs games. The only thing I did buy was this great tin toy - a mechanical robot that walks (or shuffles, really.. kind of like an old man). I picked him up at the Museum of Contemporary Art bookstore/gift shop. I'm hoping he'll be a nice companion to my other tin robot that sparks and makes scary noises while it also attempts to shuffle around. This first tin bot was given to me by my dear friend, Lisa. Anyway, here's the new guy, who has yet to receive a name Herbert. I hope you like him as much as I do!

Let's give this chunk of tin a warm welcome!

Photography

For those interested, I recently updated my pricing for all photography sessions. The new pricing scheme is much simpler, with a basic fee applicable to all sessions rather than multiple packages that include this and that, but not this, etc. Here are my updated prices for 2008:

All sessions are $150, except Bridal sessions which are $200. This is for artist's time and talent and does not include any prints or high-res CD's.

Included in the session is a 1 - 1.5 hour shoot in the Utah County/Salt Lake County areas. Also included is professional re-touching on all images selected for final prints. Clients will have access to an online proof gallery of the best images from their session. This online proofing will be available for 9 months. Print orders must be placed by the end of the 9 month period when the gallery expires.

Chicago - My New Mistress

We're back from Chicago! Let me just say that Chicago is the coolest city ever. If Chicago and NYC had a battle, Chicago would be the Native Americans and NYC would be Colonel Custer. And we all know how that ended.

William Reusswig - Custers Last Stand

Chicago is a fantastic city, full of adventure and incredible food. Our shopping was minimal, but our eating was grand! Best Mexican food possibly ever - Frontera Grill. So amazing. We were dining alfresco when Lou Pinella and his wife got out of a taxi right in front of us and went inside. Best Steak this side of anywhere - Morton's. Tastiest meats I've ever had and most expensive meal of my life. We got all dressed up to go to Morton's (which was about a 45 second walk from our hotel, which was in the middle of what I like to call "Swank Town".. we were right off the Miracle Mile, a block up from Prada and the like. A little out of our element, I suppose!) Surprisingly good (and the absolute freshest anywhere) Chinese food - Big Bowl. Probably the tastiest Chinese food I've ever had and incredibly reasonable prices. Also, the best service/waiter we had on our whole trip. A+ for Big Bowl!

Consider your Independence celebrated.

Over the 4th of July holiday/weekend, Brady and I hung out with his family in Park City. We headed up to his parents' place on Thursday night and left for Park City Friday morning for our Independence Day adventures. His parents had booked several hotel rooms for everyone, which was really fun!

The weekend was spent relaxing, playing, watching "boom lights", and enjoying good company.

Delights of the Flesh

This is perhaps the greatest compliment I've ever received. The fabulously talented Kate Banazi chose three of my 7 Deadly Sins images to re-invent and re-interpret for her print portfolio. I have featured her work in several posts and various Etsy treasuries - and I am in love with everything she creates! Her screen prints are vibrant and stimulating, often with an underlying wit and humor that I find immensely appealing. For a small taste of this delectably wry humor, here's what she has to say about herself:

I do stuff with silkscreens, pencils, cake and very often sharp scalpels.
Sometimes, even, at the same time.
I did a fashion degree but am always in jeans and sneakers.
I am scared of snakes, clowns and nylon.
I knocked out my front tooth with a lawnmower.
I love ELO.
I am a displaced Londoner in Sydney.
I am right handed, brown eyed and very often melancholy.

Makes me giggle every time.
